The school year started in most parts of Australia this week, and typically this means a bunch of new (and familiar) students are thrown together for the first time. Scary stuff for some who may be wondering how to start the new school year successfully.
In my experience, one of the best ways for teachers to combat this initial awkwardness is to deliver a series of fun, highly interactive group games and activities with the students. Forget your lessons for a moment, just get them outside and playing for a while.
Play is one of the most potent of weapons I know which successfully cuts through the crap of the start-of-school-year blues. The program doesn’t have to be long, or sophisticated, but it does need to be fun and, in particular, non-threatening.
Fun, highly interactive and non-threatening group games and activities are what playmeo is all about – and with more than 180 activities at your fingertips, there’s more than enough activity ideas to keep your students happy, not to mention, motivated to play, share and learn.
Have FUNN.
