This team puzzle activity transforms simple shapes into an engaging problem-solving challenge. Trainers and group facilitators value how this collaborative task naturally develops strategic thinking whilst encouraging different perspectives. The blend of visual and mental challenge makes it perfect for workshops, training sessions or team meetings.

Arrowheads Puzzle – Team Puzzle Activity
  1. In advance, download the Print+Play ‘Arrowheads Puzzle’ template from the Resources tab.
  2. For durability, print the template on cardboard, or cut the puzzle pieces on a sheet of plywood.
  3. Prepare and distribute one puzzle set (seven pieces) to each person/small group.
  4. Challenge each group to use the seven pieces of the puzzle to assemble five identical, simultaneous arrowhead shapes.
  5. One solid arrowhead shape is provided as one of the seven pieces. The remaining four arrowheads are exactly the same size as this template.
  6. When the puzzle is solved, everyone will be able to see all five arrowhead shapes at the same time.
  7. Encourage your group to think synergistically.
  8. Continue to play until the puzzle is solved.

Great lateral thinking activity. One of my favourites as well and use it as one of a series of challenges in a quiz/challenge session.

Or it can be used as a filler between sessions or even as one of a series at the start of the day when doing and informal start or when waiting for everyone to arrive before formally beginning the day.

Engages the brain before you even begin the session.
