I’ve used it in challenge course facilitation with high school and college groups during breaks and after lunch to get a group unconsciously working together and laughing. What I really like about it is that different people’s life experience leads them to solve different words, building the group’s confidence and interaction. Spreading out the words on a table or on the ground works well to attract different ideas. The whole group has to decide if the solution is acceptable.
I used this activity when leading a workshop to encourage informal conversations between delegates during the registration period. It was very well received and encouraged conversations between people as they sat down at a table with other teachers they didn’t know.
A great idea Annie. Simple example of what I call an ‘unofficial start.’
